Graduate ProgramsThe Department of Classics has established a variety of programs to train and license Latin teachers at the secondary school level. These include the following:
•The M.Ed. with professional licensure in Latin and Classical Humanities. Students apply to the Graduate College of Education for Track C of the M.Ed. Coursework is divided among the fields of education, language pedagogy, and Latin literature. •The track for Latin teachers in the Applied Linguistics M.A. Students apply to Applied Linguistics. This unique degree offers teachers a chance to combine further study of Latin with coursework in the theory of language acquisition. The M.A. in Applied Linguistics does not lead to licensure. It is also appropriate for those wishing to further their study of Latin and linguistics. •Initial licensure is available to undergraduates and, on the graduate level, as part of Track B of the M.Ed. in the Graduate College of Education.
