About Us

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction houses four distinct programs: Teacher Education, Special Education, Critical and Creative Thinking and Vision Studies. Critical and Creative Thinking is a interdisciplinary program that provides its students with the knowledge, tools, experience and support to become constructive, reflective agents of change in education, work, social movements, science and the creative arts. The Department offers undergraduate, master’s and post-master’s programs leading to initial and professional licensure. Special Education offers graduate programs leading to initial and professional licensure in Moderate Disabilities and Vision Studies offers specilization in Teacher of Students with Visual Impairment, Orientaion and Mobility, and Vision Rehabilitation Therapy. All of the Department’s teacher preparation programs are accredited by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Critical and Creative Thinking also has master’s and certificate programs.
