Patrick Clarkin

Patrick conducted his graduate studies in the Anthropology Department at Binghamton University (SUNY). He is interested in biocultural and evolutionary models in anthropology, particularly in human nutrition, growth and development. His doctoral research is concerned with adult Hmong refugees in French Guiana and the United States, looking at the relative contributions of early malnutrition in Southeast Asia and later exposure to improved nutrition on stature, body composition, and blood pressure.

Dr. Clarkin is also affiliated with the Rhode Island Cancer Council, where he is part of a team researching patterns of tobacco use among college students in Rhode Island.
