Rosalyn Negron

Rosalyn Negrón received her Ph.D. from the University of Florida in 2007.

She specializes in cultural and linguistic anthropology with an emphasis on Latino Studies and research methods.  In her current National Science Foundation funded research she examines how and why New York City Latinos invoke multiple ethnic identifications in daily life.  Focusing on code switching, dialect switching and ethnic discourse, her work  shows how language is central to contextual ethnic self-presentation.  Developing her interest in social network analysis, her research also explores the influence of network composition and structure on the use of multiple ethnic identifications.  Rosalyn has conducted research on social networks, brain drain migration, and minority health.  Besides New York City, she has done fieldwork in  Jamaica and rural north Florida.
