Leith Smith

Leith is a Staff Archaeologist with the Center for Culture and Environmental History and Project Archaeologist for Boston’s Central Artery/Tunnel Construction Project (Big Dig). He holds an MA in Public Service Archaeology from the University of South Carolina and is presently completing his doctoral dissertation in the Department of Anthropology at Syracuse University. His research interests include the study of intermediate level societies in West Africa and the archaeology of the African Diaspora. He has been working in New England cultural resource management for ten years.
