Research
Prof. Barnard’s research focuses on the ceramics of the Bronze-Age Minoan
site of Mochlos. She has been digging there for 15 years and is now the
assistant director. She is co-author of Mochlos IB: Period III. Neopalatial
Settlements on the Coast: The Artisans’ Quarter and the Farmhouse at
Chalinomouri, The Neopalatial Pottery. INSTAP Academic Press: Philadelphia,
PA (2003) and has done numerous lectures and articles on Minoan archaeology,
ceramics and chronology.
Teaching
She has taught a wide range of courses at UMB, especially including
Elementary Greek and Latin, Greek Civilization, Rome in Hollywood, and Sport
and Spectacle. She has developed advanced-level courses on “Cities and
Sanctuaries” and ancient historians. During her time at UMB, she has
variously served as a representative to the CLA Faculty Senate and acted as
faculty advisor to the Classics Club.
