Teaching:
Prof. Rothwell has taught a large number of authors in Greek and Latin, including Aristophanes, Aeschylus, Sophocles, Homer, Plato, Attic Orators, Plautus, Terence, Catullus, Cicero, Ovid, and Roman Historians. He has frequently taught Greek and Roman Mythology, as well as Greek Civilization, Roman Civilization, Greek & Roman Religion, and core courses on Athenian Democracy and Myth & Literature.
Publications:
Prof. Rothwell¹s research is primarily on Greek comedy: he is the author of Politics and Persuasion in Aristophanes¹ Ecclesiazusae (Leiden, 1990) and Nature, Culture and the Origins of Greek Comedy. A Study of Animal Choruses (Cambridge, 2007). He has written articles on Greek comedy and Latin elegy.
He is currently working on a translation of two 17th-century Latin treatises for the I Tatti Renaissance Library (Harvard Univ. Press), but plans to return to Greek projects, including a projected book on Nature and the Greeks.
