The Department of Classics has established a variety of programs to train and license Latin teachers at the secondary school level. For details please click on "Requirements" to your left.
• The M.Ed. with professional licensure in Latin and Classical Humanities. Students apply to the Graduate College of Education for Track C of the M.Ed. Coursework is divided among the fields of education, language pedagogy, and Latin literature.
• The track for Latin teachers in the Applied Linguistics M.A. Students apply to Applied Linguistics. This unique degree offers teachers a chance to combine further study of Latin with coursework in the theory of language acquisition. The M.A. in Applied Linguistics does not lead to licensure.
• Initial licensure is available to undergraduates and, on the graduate level, as part of Track B of the M.Ed. in the Graduate College of Education.
