Carrie Ann Quinn

Professor Carrie Ann Quinn is an assistant professor of theatre in the Department of Performing Arts. She teaches Acting I, II, Advanced Acting, Movement for Actors, Voice for the Stage, and Improv. Professor Quinn also serves as a director for UMass Boston shows in the 4 show season. Currently she is directing The Shape of Things which opens on March 4, 2009 in the McCormack Theatre. She is a professional actor who has performed onstage in numerous theatres in New York City, Los Angeles, and Boston. She also has appeared onscreen in television and film, and for six years was a resident member of the critically acclaimed and award-winning Los Angeles-based acting company, Theatre Unlimited, where she starred in world premieres of new plays and revivals of classic works. Her favorite acting credits include: Lysistrata, Edmund, The Seagull, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Glory of Living, Seven Keys to Baldpate and the world premiere of Keys to the Kingdom, a Los Angeles Weekly "Pick of the Week."and most recently, the world-premiere of The Communist Dracula Pageant at A.R.T. (American Repertory Theatre) in Cambridge. Her favorite directing credits include: The Learned Ladies, Sexual Perversity in Chicago, Fuddy Meers, Crimes of the Heart, and Boy Gets Girl. Recently, she directed an original, ensemble-developed performance piece, Sincerely, for the Clemson Players in SC, which was selected to perform in Chicago at the Around the Coyote Theatre Festival. She recently directed in SLAMBoston! New Play Festival for Company One in January 2009.
Quinn has a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Education- Acting from Boston University , where she also taught Acting as a teaching fellow for two years. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from New York University Tisch School of the Arts, as well as a second major in Politics and a minor in Women's Studies. Prof. Quinn studied acting professionally at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in New York City. She is a member of the Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE), Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF), and the International Museum Theatre Alliance (IMTAL).
