THE MINOR IN DANCE
The Department of Performing Arts offers a minor in Dance. The UMass Boston minor in dance provides dance technique at various levels in ballet, jazz and modern dance as well as dance history, choreography and pedagogy. It prepares undergraduates to pursue further study or training, to teach and direct dance programs in studios and schools, and to become active members of the dance community.
• Partnership with Boston Ballet allows students to audition into classes at the Boston ballet Center for Dance Education.
• Membership in the American College Dance Festival allows students to present choreography at the New England Regional ACDF festival.
• Membership in the National Dance Association affords students the opportunity to perform in the adjudicated Gala and to be honored as outstanding dance minors at the national convention.
