A major in philosophy provides sound training for those who anticipate graduate work in the field or wish to acquire a general and comprehensive knowledge of the basic historical and systematic themes in philosophy. Our students go in many different directions after graduation, including law school, medical school, careers in government, and in business.

JoAnne Leppanen: lawyer for Mass. Medical society for many years, now wants to work in more rural setting, possibly with Native Americans (not necessarily as lawyer)
Dennis Thompson: PhD Program in Philosophy at UMA
Saveth Noun: translator, consultant, and community organizer in Lynn Cambodian community (dealing with health issues)
Stephen Sherblom: Assistant Professor of Human Development at Univ. of Missouri, St. Louis
Nancy Newman: runs catering company and teaches catering at Peter Kump’s cooking school [subsequently: in Philosophy and Children program at Montclair State]
Jennifer Greene Hankinson: Philosophy PhD from Univ. of Texas, Austin [not sure what she is doing now]
Richard Hilly: Heating/ventilation mechanic at Harvard, active in union and Unitarian-Universalist church
Victor Day: law degree from Vanderbilt [not sure what he is doing now]
Irene Crofton: MD, with AIDS specialty, serving low income population in Boston
Charles Lyons: law degree from George Washington [not sure what he is doing now]
RoseMarie McMahon: specialist in teen health education, worked in Somerville for many years, recently moved to North Carolina
Paul Hughes: tenured philosophy professor at Univ. of Michigan, Dearborn
Bethany Balford: Forensic social worker for Merrimack Valley area

Jeannette Filippone: Training manager for global on-line brokerage firm (was enrolled in Philosophy PhD program for several years)
