Kathleen Hartford is also Associate at the Fairbank Center for East Asian Research at Harvard University. She has published, and will continue to publish, extensively on matters related to the political economy of socialist reform and market transition in China, with comparative perspectives drawn from both Central and Eastern Europe and East Asia. Future work, after completion of a book on the role of state agencies and state enterprises in China's industrial reforms, will focus on the development of China's computer industry in the context of the global industry's evolving structure.
