Divided Cities Event

Divided Cities: Common and Uncommon: A free public event hosted by the Moakley Chair for Peace and Reconciliation. Part of the FORUM FOR CITIES IN TRANSITION. Thursday, April 16 at 7:30 pm, Campus Center.

Cities are the epicenters of conflicts in divided societies. How do such cities continue to provide citizens with the basic needs and services across religious/ethnic/racial/cultural chasms? How do they emerge from conflict and engage in the long, hard transition to normalcy? Mayors and senior officials from Derry/Londonderry (NORTHEN IRELAND), Mitrovica (KOSOVO/SERBIA), Nicosia (CYPRUS), and Kirkuk (IRAQ), and government officials  from Belfast (NORTHERN IRELAND) join with Boston to speak of how they deal with normal problems in extremely abnormal circumstances.
