Spring 2010 Registration begins November 2nd!

Faculty are available for advising during their scheduled office hours or by appointment from now through the end of the semester.  Feel free to telephone or email your advisor for an appointment.  If your assigned advisor’s office hours are not compatible with your schedule, you may meet with an advisor at our drop-in advising sessions

Drop-in advising sessions will be held in the Psychology Department Conference Room (McCormack, 4th Floor, Room 272) on:

Friday October 30, 10-4:30

Monday November 2, 10-6

Tuesday November 3, 10-6

The course schedule book can be found here.

Welcome! The Department of Psychology invites you to drop by for a visit and find our more about your home department. One good way to start is to meet with your assigned faculty advisor during their office hours. Faculty advisors can help you plan a program of study that is tailored to your specific interests.  Please click here for a list of Faculty Advisor office hours.  Advisors are listed on WISER and on a bulletin board in the department. Go to the Faculty list (menu on left) to find contact information for your advisor. If you are new to the major or just have some questions about our programs and extra-curricular activities, please visit our staff advisor, Michelle Browning.  Ms. Browning can also help you find a faculty advisor who is right for your interests.

As you may have noticed, the Psychology major has a new look. We have renumbered several courses, but we have not really changed the requirements.  To learn more and to understand why your degree audit may have gone through some puzzling changes, please click to view a FAQ sheet.

The Psychology Major

A psychology major may choose to pursue either a BA or a BS degree. The two tracks are similar, but the BS includes additional work in the natural sciences.

Major in Social Psychology

The Psychology and Sociology Departments offer a joint Major in Social Psychology. Students who elect this joint major complete a complementary sequence of psychology and sociology courses, and also have access to advising and counseling from both departments.

Minors and Interdisciplinary Programs

Psychology offers a Minor in Psychology and an interdisciplinary Minor in Cognitive Science, in collaboration with Computer Science. We also offer an interdisciplinary Program in Biobehavioral Studies (in collaboration with Biology), and an Organizational Behavior option (in collaboration with the College of Management).
