Additional Information
Emily Wiemers is interested in living arrangements and transfers among extended family members over the life course. In recent work she has examined the choice of co-residence among children and parents, as young adults transition to adulthood, as middle aged adults face unemployment, and as older adults require care. She is also working on several projects that examine the relationship between geographic proximity and well-being among extended family members over the life-cycle. She recently received a Sloan Foundation Research Grant for a research project on aging, work, and intergenerational obligations with co-principal investigator Professor Suzanne Bianchi of UCLA.
