Professor Janis Kapler has chaired the Economics Department for the past three years. During this time, the department has created a new M.A. in Applied Economics, which will begin operations in the fall of 2012.  We have also hired five new tenure-track faculty and seven new adjunct faculty.  The number of economics majors has grown 41%.  Professor Kapler teaches courses on international finance, lately with a focus on the euro crisis, intermediate macroeconomics, and multinational corporations.  She recently published a book chapter on outsourcing in the pharmaceutical industry in Contractor, Kumar, Kundu and Pedersen, eds., Global Outsourcing and Offshoring: An Integrated Approach to Theory and Corporate Strategy (Cambridge University Press).
