Knapp Scholarship
Each year the Political Science Department at the University of Massachusetts Boston awards one or more scholarships to outstanding students. The scholarship is named after David C. Knapp, former President of the University of Massachusetts. The scholarship is used to provide financial assistance towards the payment of tuition and fees for the Fall 2010 semester. Note: The exact amount will not be known until decision by the UMass Foundation in July 2010.
Eligibility: 30 to 105 credits; at least 3 UMB political science classes completed by May 25, 2012.
Enrollment: Full-time, matriculated student
Application Materials:
- Official or unofficial UMB transcript including 2012 grades;
- Transcripts from other colleges attended;
- Typed autobiographical essay of 500-600 words. Essay should address personal background, educational interests, possible career plans, why the scholarship is important to the student.
- A cover sheet with home & email addresses, telephone number, and UMS number.
Special Considerations: While the principal criterion is outstanding academic performance, factors such as public and community service, career goals, and personal background are considered.
Amounts: Knapp amount will be about $4,000.
Deadline: Submit materials to Dept. of Political Science by Monday, June 4, 2012, 4:00pm
