Meet the Team

Paris Venkat is a part-time MBA student with a specialization in finance. He is a project manager with extensive experience in the Financial, Health Care and Retail industries. Paris brings a proven track record of successfully managing multi-million dollar projects to the GSMF team. He graduated from the Indian Institute of Engineering, with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering. Upon graduation, Paris plans to pursue a career in the financial services industry.

Amanda Eagan is a part-time MBA student, specializing in finance. She received a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Simmons College in 2008. Upon discovering her passion for asset management, she joined the Graduate Student Managed Fund where she has also volunteered to be record minutes for the class. She is Bloomberg certified in basics and equity. Upon graduating in spring 2013, Amanda plans to start studying for the CFA level I exam and plans to pursue a career in asset management.

Jiaxing Song is a full-time MSF student. She received her bachelor’s degree of business administration in Ball State University. Jiaxing has developed a great passion for knowledge and strategies associated with finance. In 2011, she participated in a project, which helped a small Muncie, Delaware based business to find out market opportunities. She devotedly participated in every step in this project, including conducting surveys, analyzing risks and growth strategy, and making final business plans with data. In 2012, she took internship in China CITIC Bank as Customer Service Consultant. She is planning to take CFA exam in the future, and she has decided to pursue a career in financial industry.

Jonghoon Lee is a full-time MBA student. He received his bachelor’s degree in business administration at Sejong University, Seoul, South Korea. Jonghoon worked at Republic of Korea Army as an officer. During this time, he won commendations for excellent management of his troops. He has been interested in finance, especially in corporate finance. He obtained Bloomberg Certificates in 2012. He recently began to work as an Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) volunteer that helps Boston's families by providing free tax preparation and financial guidance services during the tax season. He prepares to take the CFA exam and pursues his career in financial area.

Lumeng Zhang is currently enrolled in MSF program and graduated from UMass Boston in 2011 with a bachelor of science in management with a concentration in finance. She served as a vice president for UMass Boston Undergraduate Student Mange Fund during year 2010-11 academic year. Lumeng is a candidate of CFA level 1 and has great passion in the investment business. Upon graduation, she plans to pursue a career in the investment business or other related financial services.

Seth A. Pitts is an MSF student. After graduating from Worcester State University in 2010 with a bachelor’s of science in accounting & finance, he began working as a specialist at a government lending agency and continues to work fulltime with the agency. He is the Chairman of the city of Worcester Massachusetts’ Trust Funds Commission where he works alongside board members to manage funds bestowed upon the city with a focus on portfolio growth and eligible grant disbursements. Upon graduation, he plans to take the Certified Fraud Examiner exam. Seth hopes to pursue a career in white-collar and financial crimes investigations focusing on financial fraud prevention, detection, and analysis.

William Liu is an MSF student. He earned his bachelor’s degree from UMass Boston in Management with a concentration in finance with a minor in chinese. He works full time at State Street Corporation specializing in securities valuation. He is also the founder and commissioner of a recreational basketball league called BTR Basketball League. William plans to take his CFA Level 1 exam in the next year.

Parag N. Mehta is a full time MBA student with a concentration in finance and information systems. He earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from Mumbai University, India. He currently works as a graduate assistant for The Center for Survey Research (CSR) and as an accountant for the Athletics department at the University. Parag has had an extensive experience in the financial industry as a structured financial analyst for modeling and valuation of fixed income securities at I-Pertius Solutions and Services, India who has a clientele headquartered in Boston and UK. Upon completion of his master’s degree, he plans to get CFA certified and pursue a career in investment management.
Mahdi Moqri is in his final semester of his MBA program with a GPA of 4.0. He is currently working towards the Distinction in Research designate through his Masters thesis. Mahdi brings a set of technical skills to the team and is responsible for GSMF portfolio analysis. He is a financial research analyst with the fund. Prior to joining UMass Boston, he received his master’s degree in Industrial Engineering and his bachelor’s in Computer Science. Upon graduation, Mahdi plans to pursue a career in the financial services industry as well as a PhD degree in finance.
