Environmental Management: Implementation Issues
Description:
During the past two decades, there has been growing pressure on businesses and other organizations to pay more attention to the environmental and resource consequences o f the products and services they offer and the processes they deploy. This course will explore the real life opportunities and pitfalls of designing and implementing sustainable operations in todays corporations and non-profit organizations. Topics addressed will include recycling, waste management, toxics reduction, green chemistry, green-product design, lean/green operations, closed loop production, the triple bottom line (profit, people and the planet), energy efficiency, water conservation, product stewardship, climate change strategies, life cycle analysis, and the footprinting of carbon, fuels, and water consumption. Case studies and guest speakers will delve into the successes and failures faced by todays sustainability managers.
