Native People of New England: Contemporary Issues
Description:
This course will engage students in an examination of the current political, cultural, and economic issues important to Native Americans in New England. Among the major topics to be explored are sovereignty, land rights, federal acknowledgement, and identity. The course provides an overview of major events and legal cases of the 20th century, and will include guest lectures by Native leaders, scholars, and activists.
