Independent Study

Description:
This course provides an opportunity for a qualified, advanced student to work on a specialized topic or research project under the guidance of a faculty advisor outside the traditional lecture/discussion/laboratory framework. Meetings between the student and faculty member take place during the project to define goals and expectations and to facilitate the work. In order for this course to count for the capstone experience, an appropriate integrative project (natural and social sciences) must be developed by the student, in consultation with his/her advisor, and pre-approved by the Department Chair prior to registration.
