Description:
Introduces students to the use of decision support systems (DSS) when confronted with structures, semi-structured, and ill-structured problems. The course presents DSS components, supporting technologies, and design methodologies. It also emphasizes the fundamental concepts and terminologies in the fields of decision support systems, group decision support systems, and executive information systems. Window-based tools are used to demonstrate the interaction between quantitative methods, such as simulation, and computer technology to solve business problems and answer what-if type questions. Students will also explore the use of powerful groupware tools that support computer-mediated team work.
