Children & Human Rights
Description:
This course addresses children's rights in international perspective. We will look at difficult situations faced by children in several countries and assess the success or failure of the application of various laws/standards, especially the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. Poverty, war, racism, ethnic conflict, and gender inequality will be addressed as causes of child labor, juvenile delinquency, trafficking in children, children in combat and sexual slavery and abuse.
