Chair of the department of Environmental, Earth and ocean sciences

We are seeking a new Chair of the Department of Environmental, Earth and Ocean Sciences (EEOS) at the University of Massachusetts Boston. The EEOS Chair will lead a newly merged department to grow interdisciplinary research programs in coastal ocean and watershed sciences to national and international prominence and to develop excellent undergraduate and graduate academic programs to fulfill academic, government, and industrial workforce needs at the only university in Massachusetts located on the ocean (Boston Harbor). The EEOS department is an interdisciplinary environmental department that integrates the natural and social sciences to generate and apply new knowledge about the quality of our environment and the sustainable use of its resources. It focuses on promoting integrated science, planning, policy, and education for understanding earth-system processes and managing the impacts of urbanization on linked watershed and coastal marine systems. The department's strong interdisciplinary makeup (natural and social sciences) and its focus on linked watershed-coastal systems are unique in the country.
