Sharon Lamb, Ed.D. is Distinguished Professor of Mental Health and comes to UMass Boston after 13 years teaching in the Psychology Department at Saint Michael's College in Colchester Vermont, and 7 years in the Clinical-Developmental Psychology Program at Bryn Mawr College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.  She received her Ed.M. in Counseling and Consulting Psychology at Harvard Graduate School of Education and her Ed.D. in Human Development at Harvard Graduate School of Education after spending a year toward a Human Development degree at the University of Chicago.  She has published widely in the fields of moral development, abuse and victimization, sexual development , psychotherapy with children and adolescents, the sexualization of girls, and media and marketing impact on the development of girls and boys.  She served on the APA Task Force on the Sexualization of Girls and currently published in Sex Roles a Feminist Forum article called "Feminist Ideals of Female Adolescent Sexuality: A Critique".  She is currently working on two projects: a sexual ethics curriculum for high schoolers; and focus group research on victims, advocates, journalists, and sex offenders' views of new journalists' representations of sexual violence.  Dr. Lamb is President-Elect of the Association for Moral Education and a member of APA's divisions 35, 46, and 53.  Her co-authored book, Packaging Boyhood: Saving Our Sons from Superheroes, Slackers, and Other Media Stereotypes was published Oct. 13, 2009 and is available in bookstores.
