Dr. Brady’s research, teaching and service interests are in the areas of preparing teachers to serve students with disabilities in urban schools. Promoting social problem solving skills for all elementary school children, including those with disabilities, is a particular focus of her research and teacher training activities.
Mary divides her time at UMassBoston between teaching and supervising student teachers within the Graduate College of Education, and serving as the Director of Professional Development at the university’s Center for Social Development and Education. In that capacity, she coordinates the Applied Behavior Analysis for Special Populations Graduate Certificate Program through the Graduate College of Education.
Dr. Brady earned her M.Ed. at the University of Southern California, and both her MBA and Ph.D. in Education at Boston College. Before joining the Center's staff, she was a Researcher and Curriculum Developer at the Center for Applied Special Technology (CAST ). Earlier in her career, she was a teacher of students of special needs, Principal of Boston College Campus School, and Director of Training at the Shriver Center University Affiliated Program.
When not at work, Dr. Brady enjoys traveling with her husband, Monroe and daughter, Molly, reading, gardening, and having tea with friends.
