Degree Requirements

Candidates for the MEd in Special Education for Moderate Disabilities who are pursuing Massachusetts teacher licensure will be provided with a sequence of course work, field-based experiences, and practica to fulfill eligibility requirements as prescribed by the Massachusetts Department of Education.

As part of the coursework contained in the M.Ed. program, successful completion of the capstone experience (a final research paper with two readers) is a requirement for all master’s candidates. This requirement applies to both the M.Ed. leading to Initial Licensure and the M.Ed. leading to Professional licensure. This capstone experience is fulfilled within SPEG 691: Research in Special Education for Moderate Special Needs.
