Admissions & Financial Aid
We are no longer accepting applications for Fall 2013 admission. Application deadline was January 15, 2013.
All required documents for application to the Global Governance and Human Security PhD program were required to be received by the Office of Graduate Admissions by this deadline.
Required documents
- Official transcript from each college and university attended
- Graduate Record Exam [GRE] test scores Official report from Educational Testing Service
- Resume/Curriculum Vitae
- Three Letters of Recommendation from people familiar with your academic abilities (Download the letter of recommendation form)
- Statement of Purpose [1500 words]: Statement of your research and career interests and goals; your motivation for pursuing a PhD; why you are interested in an interdisciplinary PhD program; member(s) of the faculty with whom you are interested in working. Submit as your statement of interests and intent.
- Writing sample: Any substantial piece of academic writing of which the applicant is the sole author

In addition to the official application, all applicants are requested to submit the following information to conflict@umb.edu. We urge you to submit this information as soon as possible, either at the same time or in advance of filing the official application. Please include:
- Resume/Curriculum Vitae

If you have or can make unofficial copies of the following, please also send:
- Official transcript from each college and university attended
- Graduate Record Exam [GRE] test scores report sent to you from Educational Testing Service
- TOEFL or IELTS test scores report
Financial Support
Accepted students are eligible to receive financial support in the form of Teaching Assistantships or Research Assistantships. Assistantships include waivers of tuition and most fees, plus a cash stipend to help defray living expenses. Applicants are also encouraged to seek other sources of financial support for which they may be eligible.
