Skill Building Workshop  Facilitation of Inter-Ethnic/Sectarian Workshops in Conflict Zones, with Instructor David Steele, offered through the Graduate Programs in Conflict Resolution at UMass Boston, on June 25-28, 2012; 6:00-9:00 p.m. Cost:  $200   Location:  UMass Boston  This workshop focuses on building skill sets in facilitation and dialogue processes which can be used effectively in violence-prone societies.  Examples will be drawn from the instructor’s 20 years of experience designing and leading such trainings in numerous conflict zones around the world.   Additional details are in the flyer     Link to Registration form

August 2012 Workshops in Vermont  Neve Shalom/Wahat al-Salam School for Peace (SFP) For 4 days in August 2012, 40 Americans will have an opportunity to participate in a series of dialogues on the Israeli/Palestinian. This workshop is for young American Arabs and Jews (18-26) and others interested in developing an awareness of the ethnic/social relations and conflicts that exist in our society. Workshops will be led by two facilitators from the School for Peace (one Palestinian, one Jewish) to facilitate this 4-day program.  SPSSI Opens the Clara Mayo Grant Program for applications.  Deadline: May 7th.  The Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues (SPSSI) announces The Clara Mayo Grant program, set up to support masters’ theses or pre-dissertation research on aspects of sexism, racism, or prejudice. Conference  June 6 - 9, 2012: TRANSATLANTIC DIALOGUE 2012:  The theme of the 8th Transatlantic Dialogue is ‘Transitions in Governance’. States are faced with significant developments; dealing with these developments puts a heavy strain on their systems of public administrations. Training for Professionals: Working in War/Post-War Environments. The International Peace and Development Training Center (IPDTC) will host a series of on-line and on-site Advanced and Executive Leadership Certificate Programs for Professionals Working in War and Post-War Environments.  Training programs extend through 2012.  These training programs, developed in the frame of IPDTC, are central to the Institute’s support for the peace building and conflict transformation field. Designed specifically for practitioners and policy makers, they are developed drawing upon best practices and lessons learned in the field to support individuals and agencies actively engaged in peace building in their own communities, countries and internationally.  details
