About Our Dean

Philip DiSalvio is the founding dean of University College. Dr. DiSalvio holds an Ed.D. from Harvard University Graduate School of Education in Administration, Planning and Social Policy, a post-doctoral Robert Wood Johnson Faculty Fellowship in Health Policy and Management from Johns Hopkins University, an M.Ed. from Northeastern University and a B.A from the University of Massachusetts Boston.

With over twenty-five years of experience in professional education and graduate teaching, program development and instructional curriculum design, Dr. DiSalvio has been interviewed extensively in various media publications on the subject of adult learning, professional education and online learning.

Dr. DiSalvio recently served as presenter at the 2011 University Professional & Continuing Education Association Annual Conference, the 2011 University Professional & Continuing Education Association 19th Annual Marketing Seminar, the 16th Annual Sloan-C International Conference on Online Learning. He has been a featured presenter for Academic Leader Magna Online Seminars and a featured speaker at the Association of University Programs in Health Administration Annual Leaders Conference.

Recent publications include "SetonWorldWide: A Case Study of Student Success," in the Journal of Asynchronous Learning Networks (Volume 13, No. 3); "Harvard Online: Paradigm Shift, or Business as Usual?" in University Business; and the book chapter "Leadership Development and the Saint Boniface Healthcare System" in The Practice of Evidence-Based Management edited by Kovner, Fine and DAquila. (Health Administration Press, 2009).

Serving as a strategic planning consultant for a number of healthcare and nonprofit organizations, Dr. DiSalvio has served in an advisory board capacity for a number of organizations and served as an institutional review board member for a large community hospital. He has served as an External Consultant for Higher Education Degree Program Review and Authorization for the Ohio Board of Regents and as an editorial reviewer for the Journal of Health Administration Education.

Dr. DiSalvio is a member of the Sloan Consortium (Sloan-C) Online and Blended Teaching Oversight Board and is the recipient of the 2008 Excellence in Online Administration Award from the Center for Internet Technology in Education and eCollege. This award recognizes individuals who are seen as visionary in the development and management of successful online education.
