Irish Literature, Theatre and Culture | May 29 - July 9, 2012
This summer the Performing Arts and English Departments of UMass Boston will offer students a unique opportunity to study Irish literature and drama intensively on campus followed by travel to Ireland to visit and explore the settings that inspired the works we study.

Puerto Rico
Caribbean Studies Summer Institute: Caribbean Society and Culture in Comparative Perspective | June 4 - July 5, 2012
The Departments of Sociology and Anthropology of UMass Boston, in collaboration with the University of Puerto Rico at Cayey, have designed a summer program dedicated to the study of the historical, socio-political, and economic structures and processes that have shaped the Caribbean into the culturally complex region it is today. Participants to earn up to nine undergraduate credits.

China
Entrepreneurship in the U.S. and China | June 8 - June 23, 2012
This course will offer students an in-depth look at how business is conducted in China, through a two-week stay in the great cities of Beijing, China’s political capital, and Shanghai, its economic capital. Participants earn six graduate credits.

Belize
Field School in Prehistoric Archaeology | June 14 - July 8, 2012
This summer the Anthropology Department will offer a field school on Maya archaeology in Belize, Central America. The project area and field camp are located in a tropical rainforest within the Programme for Belize Conservation Area-a protected reserve for flora, fauna, and archaeological remains.

Winter 2013
Puerto Rico
Caribbean Tropical Biology in Puerto Rico | Jan 4 - 25, 2013
a three-week course designed to introduce students to the basics of Caribbean tropical ecology and evolution that will take place in the United States territory of Puerto Rico. The course will involve a mixture of classroom and field-based learning, and include excursions to all the major ecosystems of the Caribbean tropics.
