Environmental, Earth and Ocean Science on Nantucket

GIT Data Collection and Field Methods
(EEOS 406)

This course has 3 components: lecture, lab, and field data collection. The course is conducted at the UMass Boston campus for the first 2 weeks and at the UMass Boston field station on Nantucket for the third and final week. The course covers basic Geographic Information Technologies (GIT), specifically Global Positioning System (GPS), and applications used to collect, map and analyze spatial data.

Prerequisite: EEOS 281 and EEOS 381 or permission of instructor.

  • Arrive in Nantucket on Sunday (Aug 19) and depart on Saturday (Aug 25)
  • 6 nights at Gouin Village, Nantucket, MA
  • 5 full days of course work

The fee for this course covers instruction and housing on Nantucket. It does not cover meals or transportation to and from Nantucket.
