What Does the Grade of "Void" Mean?

ortfolio are graded by the grade of "pass," "retake," or "void."
When it is determined that a student has had the assistance of another person, whether for payment or not, in writing, revising, or editing theperformance essay in the portfolio will be graded "void."
If your Portfolio does not meet any of the submission criteria, your portfolio will be graded " void." Please be aware of all of the Portfolio requirements.
If a performance essay is determined to have been plagiarized your portfolio will be graded " void." Plagiarism in a portfolio, whether it is the new essay or in one of the supporting essays , will be treated in the manner outlined in the Code of Student Conduct. The consequences of violating these policies are serious and may include suspension or expulsion. If your portfolio is voided for this reason, a new portfolio essay can be submitted at the next WPE date. . If the new performance essay is determined to be plagiarized, you may be resubmit the supporting material in the next WPE.
These are some of the kinds of assistance that are acceptable: general discussions of the reading set with other students; using "spell-check"; working on general issues, (i.e. "Is this a reasonable thesis?") with a WPO tutor; attending WPO workshops; or working with other students to review your essay to make sure you have considered the Elements of Writing Proficiency. Other kinds of assistance are not allowed.
Occasionally, faculty readers question whether a particular portfolio represents the student's own work. In such cases, additional evidence may be requested as part of an investigation. Students should retain copies of their drafts and/or working notes for the new portfolio essay until after the grading has been completed; this will provide evidence that you have done independent work.
