Additional Information
Judy Khy is the program assistant for the Asian American Student Success Program. Judy has been involved in community work and organizing around the Greater Boston area for over ten years. Her involvement largely began when she was in high school in a youth leadership organization called the Coalition for Asian Pacific American Youth (CAPAY), which is housed at UMass Boston's Asian American Studies Program office. Through her experience with CAPAY, she realized the important role youth leadership groups had on youth of first and second generation immigrant families. After meeting other Asian American community groups, her interest in working with local Asian American community groups only grew. Judy has had some experience working with companies in other fields, but she has been fortunate to be able to pursue her passion working with non-profit organizations that work with the communities and challenge social issues, such as MAP (formerly MAP for Health), the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center, Asian American Resource Workshop, as well as organizing with the Cambodian/Cambodian American community in Lynn, MA. She has also found time to contribute to the community in a volunteer capacity with groups like CAPAY, API Movement, the Lynn Khmer New Year planning committee, Deported Diaspora, etc. She continues to be inspired by the commitment of others to be advocates and educators for socially just work.
