Job Search
How do I find suitable job openings in my career field?
Understanding the job market, seeing what’s out there, and finding jobs that match your talents and personality—those efforts take time and patience. Let us help you find the right fit for your future. As a UMass Boston student, you have access to a wealth of resources.
The Office of Career Services and Internships
Call Career Services (617.287.5519) for an appointment to meet with a career specialist to discuss job search strategies. Also visit the Career Resource Library to search the jobs binders or conduct online job searches.
My Career Online
Sign in to MyCareer Online to search current job and (for students) internship listings.
Career Services Job Bulletin
The Career Services Job Bulletin highlights a sampling of current job listings, provides information about career related events and programs, and offers articles on a variety of career related topics. Review or download the latest issue of the Job Bulletin in the MyCareer Online Resource Library. Paper copies are available for pick up in the Office of Career Services and Internships (Campus Center - 1 - 1300).
Career Services Sponsored Events
Attend career fairs and networking events to meet people, connect with alumni, and find more job opportunities. Participate in on-campus job interviews.
Other Sponsored Services and Events
NACElink posts nationwide jobs for UMass Boston students and alumni.
Massachusetts Educational Recruiting Consortium (MERC) sponsors an annual career fair each April, open to job-search candidates from UMass Boston. Contact Career Services beginning in February for registration information.
How can I improve my resumé-writing and interviewing skills?
Statistics show that employers spend less than 10 seconds scanning a resumé, so the format and style should showcase your most important credentials at a glance.
Once you land the interview (whether face-to-face or "virtual"), making a good impression takes poise, skill, and know-how.
Let us help you put your best foot forward. Call Career Services (617.287.5519) to make an appointment with a career specialist for advice and coaching on resumé, cover letter, and interview preparation.
Also check out the Career Services Resume Handbook for useful resume-writing tips and examples. It is available in Career Services or online.
