Pre-Collegiate Youth Programs
UMass
Boston has a long-standing commitment to pre-collegiate programs, spanning
37 years, with eight programs currently serving over 1,600 community youth.
Programs serve gifted and talented, special needs, English as a Second
Language, low-income, and first-generation students.
Admissions Guaranteed Program
Guarantees admission to UMass Boston for students at Burke, Dorchester and South Boston High Schools who take college prep classes and pass with at least a 2.75 grade point average.

Upward Bound
Provides 100 low-income, first-generation high school students with the skills and motivation to enter and successfully complete post-secondary education.

Math Science Upward Bound
Provides 50 low-income, first-generation high school students who have demonstrated potential for success in a math or science career with the skills and motivation to enter and successfully complete post-secondary training for those fields.

Project REACH
Provides college and career awareness, advising and preparation for 600 middle and high school students with disabilities. Students are also low-income, first-generation college students.

Urban Scholars
Provides 120 talented middle and high school students with academic enrichment and skills building, college end career advising, and cultural enrichment. Also provides support to teachers and administrators.

Health Careers Opportunity Program
In collaboration with Tufts, Tufts School of Medicine, and the MA Public Health Assoc., provides students in the University's Pre-Collegiate Programs with awareness of and preparation for careers in medicine and public health.
