Welcome to the UMass Boston Budget Office
The Budget Office provides support to university administrators and its departments in developing and implementing short and long-range financial plans for the Boston campus. Our primary responsibilities include preparation of the annual budget and the monitoring and tracking of the financial status of the Boston campus.
Our goals are to direct the planning and budgeting cycle, to provide information for internal planning and the decision-making process, and to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the university reporting.
Our responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Development of the UMass Boston Operating Budget
- Development of the UMass Boston annual Formula Funding Request
- Development of Student Fee- and Revenue-Based Trust Fund Budget Report
- Development of the annual Financial/Capital Indicators Report
- Monitor and control the budget and legislative appropriations
- Produce monthly budget-to-actual variance reports
- Evaluate budgetary performance and resource utilization
- Produce ad hoc reports and analyses as requested
- Provide individual and group training on the PeopleSoft financial system, including its reporting tools
- Respond to internal and external requests for information and assist & advise administrative offices throughout our campus with interpreting and developing responses to all financial requests
