Benefits
Manages all benefit programs offered through the university.
- Provides orientation and counseling to eligible employees on health, life and long-term disability insurance programs provided through the Group Insurance Commission (GIC);
- Coordinates university dental insurance programs through dental plan administrators and dental providers;
- Provides orientation and counseling to eligible employees on State Employee Retirement System (SERS) or the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) retirement plans to employees, both individually and/or in group settings, as well as on other retirement-related programs, such as the Deferred Compensation Plan and/or Tax Sheltered Annuities;
- Administers COBRA retirement plan for non-benefited employees;
- Coordinates other benefits-related programs, such as tuition waiver/remission, the Dependent Care Assistance Program, Health Care Spending account, and parking and transit pass programs;
- Provides benefits counseling to employees affected by layoff, leaves, or retirement, and to employees, family members, and beneficiaries affected by death;
- Coordinates the annual open enrollment process, including benefits fairs, for employees;
- Provides benefits-related information (i.e., COBRA, retirement withdrawals, unemployment benefits, etc.) to employees who leave employment with the university;
- Coordinates leave accrual plans available to eligible employee groups;
- Conducts outreach and training programs, and develops guidelines and handbooks, on benefits policies and procedures.
