Eligibility
In order to be considered, individuals must have worked for the University for a minimum of five years prior to the nomination date.
Who can nominate?
Any staff or faculty member may submit a written nomination for an individual.
Recognition will be for contributions in any of the following areas:
Innovation
- Designed, developed or implemented a new program or process that has had a positive impact at the University;
- Saved time and/or money as a result of an innovation;
- Streamlined procedures which benefited an office or a department of the University;
- Automated an existing system or process;
- Created or implemented technological improvements using tools such as software, telecommunication or web-based programs.
Some examples of this type of achievement include:
- Developed a new management approach which increased a department’s effectiveness in interactions within the University;
- Designed an on-line database which improved the department’s way of doing business;
- Collaborated with another department to eliminate duplication of an effort.
Initiative
- Anticipated and taken steps to overcome an organizational barrier;
- Voluntarily assist co-workers and participated in generating ideas in
- functional teams;
- Originated creative ideas and/or methods and followed through with implementation;
- Improved skills and contributions to the University by accessing Training & Development programs, courses, seminars or other university courses;
- Facilitated a team process to solve a departmental issue of concern.
Some examples of this type of achievement include:
- Mentoring a new employee;
- Discovering and remedying an inefficient office procedure;
- Sharing knowledge which resulted in improved management procedures.
Service
- Consistently demonstrated extraordinary concern for satisfaction of internal/external constituents;
- Continually displayed exceptional courtesy and respect
- Exceeded customer expectations resulting in positive outcomes that support the university mission;
- Improved productivity which positively affected a member of the University community;
- Developed or enhanced communications, cooperation and/or collaboration with specific university customers.
Some examples of this type of achievement include:
- Meeting a seemingly impossible deadline
- Helping a student, parent, faculty, staff or other constituent in a manner that left a lasting impression;
- Improving interdepartmental communication which enhances the staff’s ability to effectively serve the university and external community.
