Please review our application deadlines for information about when to apply to graduate programs at UMass Boston. When applying, be sure to complete your entire application. International graduate students have additional requirements. Many programs have special requirements/instructions, so be sure to check with the program page before applying. Be certain to submit all required credentials by the appropriate application deadline.
Your application will not be evaluated until all your materials have been submitted.
Eligibility
To apply for admission to graduate study at UMass Boston, you must hold a bachelor’s degree from an institution of recognized standing.
Two Options
Students can participate in graduate study at UMass Boston as a:
- Matriculated Student: Admitted to graduate programs and fully qualified to pursue studies toward graduate degrees and certificates
- Non-degree (Non-matriculated) Student: Not admitted to graduate programs, but allowed to enroll in graduate-level courses on a space-available basis
Guidelines
- Admission is granted only for the semester requested and cannot be guaranteed for a later date.
- Admission to graduate study does not automatically indicate approval of candidacy for an advanced degree.
- Such candidacy is subject to specific requirements defined by the individual graduate programs. Graduate Programs must approve all degree candidacies.
