Applying OnlineTo apply for graduate admission to the university, please submit the online admissions application, completing all required fields, denoted by an asterisk (*). The online application must be completed and submitted in one sitting. You should use the online application only if you want to enroll in a graduate degree-granting program. If you wish to enroll as a non-degree-seeking student, please call UMass Boston's Enrollment Information Service at (617) 287-6000 for information about how to do so. To use the online Web application, you will need to have Internet Explorer 4.0 or Netscape version 4.0 or higher. Use the ‘Back’ function on your browser to navigate to a previous page in your application. Use mixed (proper) case when supplying name information. Mixed case refers to capitalizing the first letter of each word of a proper noun. ResidencyBefore answering the Massachusetts residency question please read carefully the university's rules governing residency status. Correcting an online applicationOnce your application has been submitted (accomplished by hitting the 'submit' button at the end of the form), you cannot make corrections to it online. Please review your application carefully before you submit. Corrections to a submitted application must be made in writing to the Graduate Admissions Office. Be sure to print a copy of the application for your records. Additional requirements for the applicationSubmitting your application online is only part of the application process. To complete your application, you must submit required supporting credentials. For your convenience, general application requirements are listed below. However, some programs require additional items. Please read about the admission requirements that are necessary to complete your application for admission. Submit all additional application requirements to the Graduate Admissions Office at the address below. All applicants are encouraged to submit supporting credentials as soon as possible after submission of the online application. Your application will be considered by the appropriate admissions committee upon receipt of all required documents. When possible, please include your name, address, date of birth, and social security number (optional) on all materials sent to our office. Application FeeAn application fee is required of all applicants. This fee is non-waivable, non-refundable. Statement of Interests and IntentPlease print on 8 1/2 x 11 paper. Letters Of RecommendationLetter of Recommendation form (36 KB PDF). Submit in envelopes sealed and signed by the referees. Official TranscriptsAn official transcript from each institution attended (graduate and undergraduate) must be submitted. Each transcript must be in the sending institution's original sealed envelope. If you have attended UMass Boston or Boston State College, it is not necessary for you to request a transcript from the UMass Boston Registrar's Office. Official Test Score Report(s)Request that the appropriate agency send an official test score report. Photocopies or your own personal score (examinees) report will not be accepted.
