CERNET Corporation

China Education and Research Network is better known as CERNET.  The CERNET network is one of China’s earliest and largest computer networks serving 20 million students. We have a close relationship with CERNET officials who recognized the growing demand in China for opportunities to study abroad.

The CERNET Education & Training Center is located in the “Silicon Valley of China,” where numerous famous colleges and research institutes are thriving. A subsidiary of CERNET established the Massachusetts International Academy (MAIA). CERNET chose Boston because our state has a prestigious reputation in higher education worldwide.

CERNET partnered with UMasss Boston to give Chinese students an opportunity to study in the U.S. and qualify for university admissions.

Massachusetts International Academy

If you need to improve your English language skills before you can be accepted into a college in the U.S., the Massachusetts International Academy (MAIA) is a great opportunity to get accustomed to living in the U.S. for one year while meeting the requirements for admissions to college here.

You’ll take college preparatory courses including intensive English as a Second Language training taught by our professors. You’ll live with other Chinese students at a very large, state-of-the-art training center in Marlborough, MA, a suburb of Boston.

Our close relationship with CERNET means that you are eligible for provisional admission to UMass Boston. Upon completion of the MAIA program, you will not have to provide TOEFL scores.
