The Department of Sociology in the College of Liberal Arts (CLA) offers a major in criminal justice. CLA criminal justice majors complete eight core courses (24 credits), four elective courses (12 credits) and a 6-credit capstone internship experience. Students may also choose to minor in criminal justice.
The criminal justice curriculum emphasizes such traditional areas of study as corrections, criminology, law, and police, as well as other related areas, including community problems, law and public policy, substance abuse, and youth services.
