Application Options
UMass Boston provides you several ways to apply, from snail mail to online.
Once you have chosen the application you want to use, read the instructions carefully. Please answer all questions and indicate both a first and second choice for your academic major. Your application will not be evaluated until all your materials have been submitted. Please see the application instructions for more details. When processing undergraduate applications, UMass Boston has an established deadline and encourages all students to submit a complete application packet for consideration by that date. Please review our application deadlines for information about when to apply to UMass Boston.
Once your application is complete, it will be evaluated and you will be notified by mail of our admission decision. Applications received after the deadline dates will be automatically considered for the next available semester.
The Application
The following applications can be used by FRESHMAN or TRANSFER applicants to any of UMass Boston’s undergraduate four-year bachelor’s degree programs.
- Apply directly Online using our secure server.
- Apply online using the Common Application.
The Common Application is a not-for-profit organization that serves students and member institutions by providing an admission application - online and in print - that students may submit to any of its nearly 300 members including UMass Boston. - Common Application Supplement (PDF)
- Print a copy of our Undergraduate Application for United States citizens and permanent residents.
- Print a copy of our international student application.
- Print a copy of the Common Application.
The application forms are available as PDFs. Select this option to view and print the application using a PDF reader, such as Adobe Acrobat Reader. Click ”Print“ to print the entire form.

Do not use the options listed above if any of the following circumstances applies to your prospective enrollment at the University:
1. Re-entering Student
If you were previously admitted and enrolled at the University, complete the Readmission Application or contact the Office of the Registrar for additional information: 617-287-6200.
2. Second Bachelor’s Degree Candidate
If you are a UMass Boston graduate wishing to earn a second bachelor’s degree from the University, contact the University Registrar’s Office (617.287.6200).
3. Reactivating Applicant
If you applied to UMass Boston within the past year, contact The Office of Undergraduate Admissions (617.287.6100) to reactivate your application.
4. Joint Admissions Student
If you are participating in the Joint Admissions Program through a partner two-year college, contact the UMass Boston Office of Undergraduate Admissions for an "Intent to Enroll" form for Joint Admissions students.
5. Applicants from other UMass Campuses
If you attended UMass Amherst, UMass Dartmouth or UMass Lowell as degree-seeking student, you are not required to pay an application fee. So please download an Undergraduate or Common Application and submit it to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
6. Graduate Applicant
If you are interested in earning an advanced degree, complete the Graduate Online Application or contact the Enrollment Information Services office (617.287.6000) for information
The admissions office is located in room 320 on the Upper Level of the Campus Center. Should you have any questions, please call 617-287-6000. If you have already applied, you may check the status of your application or defer enrollment.
