Admissions Undergraduate International Applicants

Welcome, International Applicants!

Students celebrate springtime in Boston.

How to apply

Please see the admission requirements for international applicants for a list of all required materials and tests.

Estimation of Expenses

Below is an estimate of a single international student's annual expenses. Students should keep in mind that these cost estimates for living expenses are minimum estimates for a 12-month period and that, depending on the individual, actual costs may be higher. Students must be prepared to pay their own expenses and should anticipate yearly increases in both tuition and living expenses. Transportation to and from the United States is not included in the estimates.

Admission to the University

When all admissions credentials have been received, and a decision to admit the applicant has been made, the University will send the applicant an official letter of admission accompanied by a Certificate of Eligibility (I-20 form). Admission is granted for a specific semester only. The I-20 form is valid for that semester only. If the applicant is unable to attend during the designated semester, the University should be notified immediately by mail, and the I-20 form should be returned to UMass Boston. The letter should be sent to the Undergraduate Admissions Office and should indicate when the applicant will be able to attend. A $10 admission processing fee is charged for deferred enrollment. Please note: A new I-20 form cannot be issued until the original form has been returned to the University. Updated financial documentation may also be required before a new I-20 form can be issued.
Under no circumstances should an applicant come to UMass Boston without having received the official letter of admission and the I-20 form.
Applicants who come to the University without these official documents do so at their own risk. An applicant's presence on this campus will not expedite or influence the admission process.
