UMass Boston's Alumni Association Scholarship

What is the Alumni Association Scholarship?

The Alumni Association Scholarship at UMass Boston will be awarded to a student whose class standing is at least at the Junior level (at least 60 credits) as of the Spring semester, 2008 and who is approaching his or her final year of study at UMass Boston.

This year's Alumni Association Scholarship Award is $2,500 awarded to each of two students, to be applied towards tuition and/or fees at UMass Boston.

Who May Apply?

The student receiving the Award will have exhibited exemplary commitment to the University and solid academic performance.  The applicant for the award should also have demonstrated the potential to continue a commitment to the good of the University upon graduation.

The student applying for the Award shall provide:

  • A completed application form
  • A personal statement of up to 500 words detailing current and past University service (i.e. volunteering, work study, clubs, student groups, etc.)
  • Unofficial transcripts
  • A letter of recommendation from a faculty member at UMass Boston
  • A letter of recommendation from a UMass Boston alumnus (recommended but not required)*
