Welcome to the Division of Athletics, Recreation, Special Programs and Projects.  Internally, we provide services that are designed to enhance the student experience at UMass Boston while externally, we work to improve and enhance the University’s engagement with our local communities. 

Department of Athletics

Through our Department of Athletics we offer intercollegiate athletics sponsoring 18 varsity teams, nine for men and nine for women; in addition we offer intramurals and recreation for the students, staff and faculty at UMass Boston. 

Special Programs & Projects

The Division is also working to coordinate UMass Boston’s vast array of community outreach efforts by: providing staff support to the Urban Mission Coordinating Committee; managing the Harbor Point Agreement; and collaborating closely with the Office of Community Relations and the Division of Student Affairs.

YES with Africa (Youth Education and Sports) is a multiethnic, coeducational, sports and leadership development program administered in conjunction with the Department of Africana Studies and is currently based in the West African countries of Senegal and Benin
