The Phillis Wheatley Building is bustling with student activities. The fourth floor houses the offices for Student Life and student organizations, as well as the College of Public and Community. Classrooms and the Division of Continuing Education are also in Wheatley, as well as the Wits End Cafe, a student-run coffeehouse that offers live entertainment and poetry readings. Born in Africa and sold into slavery, Phillis Wheatley (c.1753-1784) was the first Black poet published in the United States. |
