Commonwealth Diversity Fellows Program
Commonwealth Diversity Fellows Program (CDFP) provides UMass Boston College of Public and Community Service students a first hand, high level experience within the workings of state government and to increase their sense of participation in affairs of state.
The Commonwealth Diversity Fellows Program was born out of a partnership among:
The Office of Access and Opportunity, whose mission is to identify, understand, and act upon structural impediments, which inhibit the equitable inclusion of various individuals within the fabric of the state’s social and economic mainstream.
The Office of Diversity and Equal Opportunity, whose mission is to carry out the Governor’s mandate to ensure practices of non-discrimination and equal opportunity and to deliver customer-focused solutions in attracting, hiring, retaining and promoting a diverse workforce within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Commonwealth Compact, whose mission is to establish Massachusetts as a uniquely inclusive, honest and supportive community of - and for - diverse people. To acknowledge our mixed history in this effort, and to face squarely the challenges that still need to be overcome, to understand that the growing diversity of the state must be tapped fully in order to achieve the state’s economic, civic and social potential.
The College of Public and Community Service at UMass Boston, whose mission is to provide an empowering and effective education to people who are committed to working for social justice, and who want to promote positive development in their communities.
