High School Chinese Speech Contest Manish Paranjpe of Michigan won first place in the intermediate category for his Chinese language skills during the seventh annual US High School Student Chinese Speech Contest at UMass Boston. The other 23 winners came from as far away as HI, CA, OH, NJ and GA.
University Chinese Speech Contest Andrew Ryan of UMass Boston placed third in the Confucius Institute's second annual Chinese Bridge Speech Contest for university students on 3/10/12. The15 finalists included students from Harvard, MIT, Brown, Northeastern, Brandeis, UMass Amherst and UMass Boston.
MBA Study Abroad The Confucius Institute in Boston awards scholarships to study abroad in China. For six consecutive summers, 20-35 UMass Boston MBA students visited Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen to enrich their study of Entrepreneurship in the U.S. and China.
Teacher Training Program To meet the growing demand for licensed teachers of Chinese, The Confucius Institute and the China Program Center collaborate to offer training to local, Mandarin language teachers.
